Magic Tree House series These have some historical information in it but
it is basically twaddle. However, these were the first chapter books my son read
and he loved them. They are great fun reads for ones just beginning to need
chapter books.
The
Mouse and the Motorcycle and sequels This book is part of Core 2 but you
can read the sequels after reading it with the core.

These were written for adults but have been recommend as good chapter

This is nothing but twaddle but again it was written to get little boys
to read and it certainly does do that. This has a lot of bathroom humor in it
and sometimes not so appropriate language. I recall the word idiot being used frequently

would use with a child still using leveled readers as an introduction to chapter
books. Each chapter is about 3 or 4 pages and every page has illustrations.
